I'm happy to announce that [livejournal.com profile] nordic_noir is now an affiliate community of [livejournal.com profile] smallfandombang! Thanks goes to the mod there, [livejournal.com profile] spikedluv. :)

Small Fandoms Bang is a big bang community for small fandoms. A big bang is a long fanfic (≈ more than 10.000 words). Writing a long story can be something of a challenge and even more if you are writing for a small fandom, and so the [livejournal.com profile] smallfandombang community is there to provide encouragement, help and cheer-leading to make you reach your writing goals. And as the [livejournal.com profile] nordic_noir fandoms are generally small and have much too few big bangs (in my opinion :D), the community could be very useful for Nordic Noir fans. So go for it: that longfic your plotbunnies have been nibbling at!

Title: Draw the Watcher's Eye
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] acts_of_tekla
Fandom(s): Wallander
Type: Gen
Rating: G
Word Count: 137
Characters/Pairings: Wallander, Hel/Hela
Warnings/Spoilers: None
Summary: Drawing the attention of the goddess of death rarely leads to happiness.
Author’s Notes: Inspired by the not-entirely-unserious fan theory that Wallander being happy would somehow trigger Ragnarok, and by my own theory that the universe loves to see him suffer, which is why he survives the crazy situations he constantly finds himself in.

She watches him from the shadows... )

This was written for the casestory Big Bang challenge.

Title:
We Are NOT Going to Cardiff
Author(s): gloria_scott
Artist(s): sc_fossil (aka kat-byrd)
Fandom(s): Sherlock BBC | Wallander BBC
Type: Slash
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~16,700
Characters/Pairings: Lestrade/Wallander; Sherlock
Warnings/Spoilers: Explicit sex, rope bondage, BDSM scenes, murder
Summary: Wallander is visiting Lestrade in London for the first time since their unlikely friendship/relationship began. Lestrade's intention to have a quiet weekend of pub-going and football watching are dashed when Sherlock arrives and demands their help with a case he's working in Cardiff. Against Lestrade's better judgement, the pair find themselves on their way to Wales to investigate the curious case of a local politician accused of murdering his mistress. Will their fledgling relationship weather the strain of working together and the unpredictable tempest that is Sherlock Holmes?
Author’s Notes: (1) A special shout-out and thanks to the lovely and talented sc_fossil (aka kat-byrd), who created the art for this fic. Also, thanks a million to catchoo152 for the beta and my Brit-picking tag team, thesmallhobbit and aeron_lanart!
(2) This story is part of my The Man Who Never Smiled ‘verse, which is a bit of a mish-mash between BBC and book Wallander. It occurs between that story and Orange Chicken. Series-wise it takes place between S1-S2 of Sherlock, and between S2-S3 of Wallander.

Henning Mankell's seventh book about Kurt Wallander: "On Step Behind" has a plot and a character (and possible pair of star-crossed lovers) of special interest to slashing fans:

Karl Svedberg, Wallander's good friend and colleague is implicated in a crime early on in the book, and much of the following plot focuses on secrets he has kept from Wallander. I bet you can guess where this is going? *drumroll* One Step Behind has canon angsty slash! *hugs the author*

More details, huge spoilers and a picture behind the cut )

BUT why am I writing this? Because there is no fic! I haven't found a single one, neither on FF.net: Wallander nor on AO3: Wallander, nor anywhere else. Do you know better? Or, could I inspire you to make a go of it? Please post plotbunnies too: the right prompt does help a lot in greasing the cogs. ;)

A comprehensive fan site (inspector-wallander.org), on "One Step Behind" (with all movie versions, translations and so on).
A clip on bbc.co.uk: "One Step Behind". (Available to viewers in the UK.)

There's a multifandom Nordic-language learner-friendly kink meme going on at http://in-particulate.livejournal.com/4936.html - Nordic language kink meme

From [livejournal.com profile] juicypuffin's descriptions: "A kink meme for all fandoms, in Nordic languages. (...)
Every request is tagged and searchable here: http://www.delicious.com/nordiclangmeme"

"You can answer in a Nordic language and not put it in English, or you can do both a Nordic language and English, but you can't put it only in English."

"A kink meme is not always as dirty as it sounds. It’s just a place to write/draw stories that people request, about existing book characters, tv series, whatever. There are actually tons of these out there on the internet, but not many in Nordic languages."

So, for those of you that speak a Nordic language: Use the chance to prompt for Nordic Noir-fanfiction! (There sure isn't too much of it around already. :)

Here's a little resource-post for Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy. There's actually a lot of fanworks floating around on this fandom, but there's few central points to go look for it. Here's some of what I found:

A short review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo over at [livejournal.com profile] bookish, by [livejournal.com profile] make_meabird.
A comprehensive review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo over at ScandinavianBooks.com, including background and facts about the author. An interesting read, for sure.

A review of Swedish movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Män som hatar kvinnor) (2009) on [livejournal.com profile] eddaxs_movies.
A poll on the Swedish movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo on [livejournal.com profile] amovieaday, with very good overall rating, so far. :)

Info about the move productions and actors are to be found on ONTD:The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo/Stieg Larsson News and on the LiveJournal community [livejournal.com profile] rooneymara - Rooney Mara Daily. Rooney Mara Daily also has screencaps and graphics from the Fincher films.

A handful of fanfic are to be found on Archive Of Our Own: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Lots more, including crossovers, have residence at Fanfiction.net: Millennium Trilogy.

Add your own Millennium-resources and fanworks in the comments, or make a new post of it! \o/ (A picspam would be nice,,, or perhaps some icons?)

Beneath the cuts are two Varg Veum fanfic. The first has teen-up rating and the second is gen (slash if you squint). The labels are in Norwegian.

Fioler er blå (Violets Are Blue)  )

Den som sover (The One Who Sleeps) )

When I was doing my research I went through all the Veum-dialog I could get hold of.  The most inspiring quotations are gathered here (in Norwegian). Especially Veum/Hamre-enthusiasts should pay attention to these. ;)

I have also set up a Varg Veum-biography, a Jakob E. Hamre-biography and a Veum-timeline. (All in Norwegian.) Lots of useful stuff for others contemplating writing Veum fanfic, in other words. :D
